Important to be “Future Ready”

Data Science, Big Data Management, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Cryptocurrecy, Blockchain, etc. are among the most commonly heard in workspaces and organisations these day, thanks to the rapid adaption and new developments.

Technology and digital landscapes across many organisations, specially operations intense organisations have witnessed a greater change than what would have been expected, thanks to the new normal that is in place since 2020. This revolution will impact the future of employment and hiring in a big way.

Most of the organisations have entered a new wave of automation and are witnessing rapid digitisation, thanks to the limitations that “work-from-home” brought in. This scenario in turn will force organisations to emphasise on the “future skills” that are required by their employees, including top executives.

Before the pandemic, most of the organisations used to have the concept of hiring “skill-based” staff to meet the needs to tackle new technologies, but thanks to the rapidly changing technology and digital landscape which makes it unfeasible for the organisations to continue such policies. Therefore, it is inevitable for organisations to emphasise on up-skilling and re-skilling of employees.

These developments have not only impacted workplaces, but also the customer preferences and behavioural patterns  (predominantly in service sectors). We have also witnessed that customers are comfortable with “contactless” experiences, so for example, how does the role of customer relations or front-end individuals in a organisation evolve? or will such roles be required? Similarly, in manufacturing organisations production lines and supply chains have been aligned with the changes.

Employees in organisations will have no option but to either up-skill (learn new skills to meet the requirements of changing landscape in the existing role) or re-skill (learn new skills to change the job) in order to meet the rapidly changing requirements of organisations and sectors.

In the above context, an individual witnesses many challenges among with adapting to the changing landscapes at work and the need to up-skill or re-skill are right on top, this is where the flexibility that online education brings in is a boon.
